Creed III: B. Jordan’s Directorial Debut Packs a Punch

The long awaited follow up and newest continuation of the story, Creed III, has finally hit the silver screen, showing it’s worth to be a top contender in the Rocky series. Adonis Creed is at the top of the world. He has an amazing family, runs his own gym, and still lives off the colossal success that he’s found in the world of boxing. But when an old friend of his, played by Jonathan Majors, resurfaces, Adonis must face the old demons who come back to haunt him, taking form of the man who he once considered a brother. Stepping back into the ring, Adonis will face off against him, in hope of settling the one thing stopping him from enjoying life. Creed III was a jaw-dropping film from start to finish. It delivers the same inspiration that you’d come to expect from the series, and yet it’s still nowhere close to stale. Star and new director Michael B. Jordan poured his absolute heart and soul into every frame, echoing the same passion that Stallone had for the series when he was at the forefront. They made the choice to this one to film it in IMAX, and you can see why; every single punch feels heavy, it all feels real, and it just does it’s best job at completely investing you in what it’s doing. However, the main thing these movies always try to keep in focus is the character drama that the series is built on. As I said, Adonis Creed has to face things he hasn’t thought about in years, and Jordan conveys the conflict he feels exceedingly well, while also running parallel to the unhinged energy that Majors brings to the antagonist. The casting director truly spared no expense with this one, and it drives home the idea that Majors could walk away totally owning 2023. As I’m sure is a surprise to no one, Creed III still shows that interest in these movies will not be going anywhere, and as long as they can make them this good, people will watch.
